Add basic info for your first class
Create a class shell, write a compelling description, and configure enrollment settings before building lessons.
The basic info screen defines how your class appears across TeachKit. Complete this step before inviting students so the catalog displays accurate information.
Create or open your class
- Navigate to Classes in the left navigation.
- Click New Class and give it a working title, or open an existing draft from the list.
- TeachKit automatically directs you to the Basic Info tab for the selected class.
Fill in the essentials
- Class title: Use action-oriented language (e.g., “Design a Portfolio in Figma”) and keep it under 60 characters so it fits neatly on cards.
- Subtitle: Summarize who the class is for in a single sentence. This appears beneath the title on the landing page.
- Thumbnail: Upload a 1280 × 720 image. Avoid text-heavy graphics; the card UI crops to a 16:9 ratio.
- Category and tags: Choose the subject area and add up to five searchable tags to improve catalog filtering.
Configure logistics
- Estimated duration: Pick the number of lessons or weeks so students can plan their time commitment.
- Student level: Indicate whether the class is Introductory, Intermediate, or Advanced. The badge displays on the class page.
- Enrollment visibility: Set the class to Private while you build content. You will switch it to Public when you publish.
Save and verify
Click Save changes in the footer. When the green success message appears, the Launch Checklist should automatically update. If you are collaborating with an admin who saves the class for you, toggle Mark complete on the card inside /launch
to reflect your progress.
